Watchmen.

Watchmen" is set in an alternate 1985 America in which costumed superheroes are part of the fabric of everyday society, and the "Doomsday Clock" - which charts the USA's tension with the Soviet Union - is permanently set at five minutes to midnight. When one of his former colleagues is murdered, the washed up but no less determined masked vigilante Rorschach sets out to uncover a plot to kill and discredit all past and present superheroes. As he reconnects with his former crime-fighting legion - a ragtag group of retired superheroes, only one of whom has true powers - Rorschach glimpses a wide-ranging and disturbing conspiracy with links to their shared past and catastrophic consequences for the future. Their mission is to watch over humanity... but who is watching the Watchmen? source.

I read this graphic novel and absolutely loved it. When I heard it was being turned into a film, I was beyond excited.

The characters and visuals are just stunning in this film. My favorite, Rorschach, was so bad ass. Everything from his voice to the way he moved and the way he acted was just fantastic. I was quite surprised by Jon/Dr. Manhattan. In the novel, I didn't really care much for him but he surprised me while watching him on film. I guess I was able to get more of what he was talking about through visually seeing him. Dan and Laurie...eh, they were so so. Veidt, he was cast well I think.

President Nixon's nose was unusually large, or was that just my observation? Was his nose that big?

Also, what ever happened to those crazy cigarettes Laurie smoked in the novel? There was no sign of them in the movie and that sort of bummed me out. They were cool looking.

I give this movie a rating of 5/5.
